On March 14, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., a group of seventh and eighth grade students participated in the 17-minute Walkout – one minute for each of the lives lost in Parkland on February 14. They walked out of the NDV building at precisely 10:00 a.m. and stood with placards in front of the school. Middle school teachers and the principal was present with them. At 10:20 a.m. the students returned to school and joined the rest of the student body for a prayer service held in the auditorium.
One of the Catholic Social Teachings is Solidarity. “At the core of the virtue of Solidarity is the pursuit of justice and peace. The Gospel calls us to be peacemakers. Our love for all our sisters and brothers demands that we promote peace in a world surrounded by violence and conflict.”
At NDV, we stand in solidarity with the families suffering from these tragic events, and as a community, against any kind of violence.
